As a flatlander from Alabama who survived the double two years ago, I would suggest staying hydrated...I drank a lot of poweraide the day before the race, and kept on drinking the entire time on the ascent and marathon...never felt a problem with the altitude (Did have to find an occasional tree!) Can't wait to just run the ascent this year!!! And I like the remarks by Chuck in Cincinnati, this really isn't a race but for only a few, my race is to break 4 hours. In response to: Suppose you could give ONE bit of advice to people for this race? (Chuck n Cincinnati, do you read me?) I may share the fact that last year before the start in Manitou Springs, a volunteer handed me (and others) a paper towel sheet she tore off a roll of paper towels to use in the portable toilet. If you prefer to use something else, you may want to bring it with you. To all race organizers & volunteers & rescue ~ first aid personnel: THANK YOU again.
