Race Info > Registration

Registration Is Now Open!

See below for details.

Registration

The course for the Ascent and Marathon are unique and very physically demanding when compared to other half-marathons or marathons. There is no vehicle access to most of the trail. For this reason, all runners must first complete a qualifying event before registering.

Due to insurance restrictions, all runners must be 16 years of age or older on race day.

Qualifying races must be from an organized and officially timed race. Results from Strava or personal/group training runs can not be accepted.

If the qualifications you provide can’t be confirmed, you will be removed from the race and forfeit your entry fee.

Refunds, Switches, Number Transfers, and Deferrals

Entry fees for the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon are non-refundable and may not be transferred to another individual.

Runners may, for a $20 fee, defer their 2019 entry to 2020. Runners have until 7/1 to elect to defer their registration. Note that you must still meet the qualification requirements for 2020.

Active Duty Military personnel who receive deployment orders may elect to defer their registration to 2020 (or later if they are still deployed) at no cost. Email the race registrar at registrar@pikespeakmarathon.org for details.

If you are caught running with another runner’s number, you and the person who supplied the number will be disqualified and banned from participation in future events.

Entry Limits

Pikes Peak Ascent: 1,800 runners on race day
Pikes Peak Marathon: 800 runners on race day

Pikes Peak Marathon, Inc. is an equal opportunity service provider and a permittee of the Pike National Forest. Entry limits are set by the Forest Service and are for the runners on the course, not registered runners.

2018 Pikes Peak Ascent Finishers

The 2018 Pikes Peak Ascent will be treated like any prior Ascent for qualification purposes. It is good for 3 years as a qualifier for either the Ascent and/or Marathon. For wave placement purposes, your 2018 time will be doubled to normalize for comparison it with prior finishers.

Doublers

To register for the Double, you must meet the qualification requirements for the Marathon. To register, you can select the "Doubler" bundle or register for both races individually. There is no discount for doubling.
